The ACTS MARINE Mobile Agent enviRonments in Intelligent NEtworks project explored the application of Mobile Agent (MA) technology in the context of Broadband Intelligent Networks enabling a more rapid, customized and decentralized implementation of upcoming broadband IN services compared to conventional IN Capability Set 2 and 3 architectures. The basic idea has been the movement of service intelligence (comprising service logic and data) directly at the transport network's switching nodes, optimising the usage of transport capabilities and relaxing the load of the signalling network for service control.
