John P. Papanis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1976. He received his Dipl.-Ing. degree and his Dr.-Ing. degree from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, NTUA, Greece, in 2001 and 2014 respectively. Currently, he is working as senior engineer in the Internet & Pay TV department of Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE S.A.). In the past he has worked in the telecommunication (systems/network engineer in OTE S.A., software developer in HOL S.A.) and banking (business analyst in EFG Eurobank) sectors. His research activities include context-aware services, ubiquitous computing, semantic web, middleware technologies, cryptography, content distribution and OTT multimedia services. He has several publications related to these fields.
